Miles Owen, from Our Yorkshire Farm, has shared a poignant update regarding his father Clive Owen’s step back from regular activities at their family-run Ravenseat farm.

At 17-years-old, Miles is one of Clive, 70, and Amanda Owen’s, 50, nine children who found fame on the Channel 4 hit show for half a decade until its conclusion in 2022.

The show gave viewers an insight into the Owen family’s daily life at their Swaledale farm in North Yorkshire and proved so successful that it spawned a new series, Our Farm Next Door, last year.

Away from the family venture, their second eldest son Reuben pursues his own stardom through Reuben: Life In The Dales, on Channel 5. With many opportunities knocking, young Miles admitted he was at a crossroads with “balance”. He would like to lend a hand to Reuben on-set but has also needed to take on more farm responsibilities to aid his dad Clive’s recovery post-hip replacement operation.

Speaking candidly in a recent programme, Miles reflected on the challenging mix of demands he faces while striving to please everyone around him. He fondly recalled his upbringing: “I really enjoyed growing up on the farm,” reports Gloucestershire Live.

Detailing his farm duties from childhood to present he added: “One of my jobs was doing the chickens, collecting the eggs, looking after them, and feeding them. I’m doing more work with the cows and the sheep at the moment.”

Miles shared his intentions to support his brother Reuben’s business venture but expressed concerns about juggling this new commitment with his existing responsibilities on the Ravenseat farm.

He explained: “‘I’ve talked to Reuben about the digging side and me helping more, getting more involved with his company, which I wouldn’t mind at all..

“However, I need to strike a balance because dad’s getting older and slowing down a bit. So, I’ve got to be there to help dad when needed, and I also need to be available to help Reuben when he gets stuck.”

Miles isn’t the only family member exploring new horizons, as their mother Amanda is also venturing into uncharted territory with the launch of her debut children’s book.

Amanda’s new book, titled Christmas Tales From The Farm, is set to be released in September and is aimed at children aged between eight and 12. The book, written by Amanda herself and illustrated by Becca Hall, is a collection of stories that share cherished memories of life on the farm during the festive season.
