A man has been charged with two counts of murder following an alleged double-stabbing on a suburban Sydney street.
Emergency responders were called to an Illabo Street home in Quakers Hill just before 5am on Sunday after reports of a disturbance.
They arrived to find a man in his 30s lying on the footpath, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his stomach and hands.
He was was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition, where he died several hours later.
The body of Anaseini Waqavuki, 38, was found inside the kitchen of the home.
Police believe the victims were in a relationship, and that the suspect was a former partner of Ms Waqavuki.
‘We believe the deceased male and female were in a relationship; however we’re still working to determine the nature and duration of that relationship,’ Riverstone Superintendent Jason Joyce told reporters.
‘The male currently in custody was previously in a relationship with the female.’

A strike force has been set up to investigate the couple’s deaths. A man has been charged with two counts of murder
A 47-year-old man was arrested after he attended Blacktown Police Station at about 5.30am.
He was eventually charged on Sunday afternoon.
‘At this stage, it appears to be a domestic violence incident; however it is still early in our inquiries,’ Supt Joyce said.
‘It’s very sad, particularly at this time of year. My condolences go out to the families of the deceased.’
Police have seized a knife located at a service station in nearby Woodcroft, which they believe was used during the incident.
Crime scenes were established at the Quakers Hill home, the service station, and a Blacktown address linked to the man in custody.
Shocked neighbours were woken by a commotion outside at about 4.30am, followed by screams and then ‘pure silence’ until police arrived.
