Golden State Warriors faced off against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night in a high-stakes matchup, with both teams eager to make a statement. In the end, the Warriors secured a hard-fought 115-110 victory, led by Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, with Draymond Green sealing the win with a clutch three-pointer.
Despite struggling with his shot, Curry finished with 32 points and reached a historic milestone in the process—surpassing 25,000 career points. The two-time MVP became just the 30th player in NBA history to achieve the feat, a moment that didn’t go unnoticed by his teammates.
One of the first to acknowledge the achievement was longtime running mate Draymond Green, who made sure to secure the game ball for Curry—continuing a tradition of collecting memorabilia from historic moments.
Draymond Green, the keeper of historic game balls
This isn’t the first time Green has taken it upon himself to hold onto a significant game ball. In a past interview with Kevin Durant, Green admitted that he still has one of the game balls from Durant’s Olympic performances—keeping it as a personal piece of history.

Naturally, Curry couldn’t resist poking fun at his longtime teammate. “Yeah, he’s gonna keep it for me. I heard he’s got a little bit of KD’s memorabilia. He’s just collecting stuff for all of us. I’ll come back and get it eventually,” Curry joked in his postgame press conference, via 95.7 The Game on X (formerly Twitter).
What else does Green have in his collection?
Having been through countless battles together, Curry has earned the right to joke around with Green. But maybe it’s not such a bad thing that Green is holding onto the ball for now—after all, the 2015 NBA MVP might be running out of room in his trophy case.
Stephen Curry’s historic achievement
Curry, the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers, entered Saturday’s game with 24,985 career points. After scoring 11 points in the first half, he wasted no time in the third quarter, hitting back-to-back three-pointers to surpass the 25,000-point mark.
With this milestone, Curry joins an elite group of active players to reach the mark, alongside LeBron James (41,902), Kevin Durant (40,777), James Harden (39,273), and Russell Westbrook (25,935).
Now in his 16th NBA season, Curry continues to solidify his legacy. He entered Saturday’s contest averaging 24.4 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.5 rebounds across 54 games, proving that even as he adds to his historic résumé, he remains one of the league’s premier stars.
