Police are investigating a reported sighting of an accused killer wanted for shooting dead his pregnant ex-partner and two others, as the sole survivor speaks out about his terrifying ordeal.

Kaleb MacQueen, 19, believes he should be dead after allegedly being shot by Julian Ingram at Lake Cargelligo on Thursday.

“My hand’s given me, yeah, a lot of pain and so’s my shoulder. I’ve, yeah, destroyed my pinky,” Mr MacQueen told 7NEWS.

The teenager was at his mate’s place when Nerrida Quinn, his friend’s mum, was also shot.

“I heard boom, boom. She was, yeah, holding her neck and then he was laughing.” he said.

“All I was seeing was the two barrels at the end, so a double barrel or pump action, I wasn’t sure.”

MacQueen was airlifted to Canberra with serious injuries, unaware that Sophie Quinn, who was heavily pregnant, and John Harris had been murdered moments before.

“Makes me feel sick. Makes me, yeah, I don’t even know what to think. It gives me… gives me chills up my spine,” he said.

Ingram has been on the run ever since. More than 100 police have been searching the area for four days.

On Sunday, a potential breakthrough emerged with police investigating a reported sighting of Ingram at Mount Hope.

Locals in the isolated community told 7NEWS a shirtless man with a gun was spotted around 1.30am.

Police are searching a rural property in the area which is 4,000 hectares in size.

“The search will continue until we clear those premises that we are considered those areas safe,” police said.

MacQueen and his mum are pleading with police to find Ingram, saying they won’t feel safe until he’s caught.

Police believe Ingram could be travelling on foot and moving through the night to avoid the heat and detection.

Police are warning locals that Ingram remains armed and dangerous and should not be approached if seen.
