The Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers behind an outstanding performance from Jayson Tatum, who posted 40 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. With this loss, the Lakers’ impressive eight-game winning streak came to an end. Despite Luka Doncic’s remarkable form in recent games, the spotlight shifted to LeBron James. His performance drew attention, but his injury became the main concern after he was forced to leave the game. Fortunately, recent updates on his condition have provided some relief for Lakers fans.
NBA insider Shams Charania provided a key update on the Lakers veteran’s condition: “Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is expected to miss at least 1-to-2 weeks with a groin strain, sources tell ESPN. James will wait for the groin injury to calm down over the next 24 hours and receive another evaluation.”
Nonetheless, Shams Charania provided encouraging details regarding LeBron’s injury, offering some relief for Lakers fans: “Unlike in 2018 when LeBron James had that groin tear, I’m told he did not hear a pop last night in Boston.” This update has fans feeling optimistic, as James missed 17 consecutive games following his 2018 injury. This time, the Lakers may avoid a similarly lengthy absence from their star player.
Although LeBron James’ absence will be significant for the Lakers, JJ Redick has shown he can keep the team competitive. Austin Reaves could benefit the most, as he will have the freedom to impact both ends of the court and showcase his scoring abilities.

Additionally, Luka Doncic‘s strong form could help minimize the impact of LeBron’s absence, allowing the Lakers to maintain their solid performance in the Western Conference.
Lakers’ HC JJ Redick reveals plans after LeBron James’ injury
Following LeBron James’ injury, one might expect JJ Redick to adjust his approach for the upcoming games. However, Redick is confident in his plan and knows exactly how to handle the situation: “I think we just have to continue to play hard and play defense.”
From this, it is clear that Redick has no plans to alter his game plan despite LeBron’s absence. His confidence stems from Austin Reaves’ versatility, which Redick can continue to maximize effectively. Additionally, Luka Doncic has shown he can take charge of the offense, and alongside Reaves, they should be able to maintain the Lakers’ aggressive style on both ends of the floor.
