A Gogglebox Australia star was rushed into emergency surgery this week after suffering through 48 hours of stomach pain.
Isabelle Silbery shared the news to Instagram on Friday, revealing what she thought was a ‘tummy bug’ ended up being a burst ovarian cyst and infected appendix.
She uploaded an image from her hospital bed, putting a thumbs up to show she was recovering well following medical treatment.
‘I don’t use this platform for sympathy but rather awareness,’ Isabelle, 41, began in the caption.
‘With what I thought was a tummy bug, I pushed through 48hrs of pain until I couldn’t take it anymore.
‘I listened to my body and got checked even though a part of me would’ve been embarrassed if I was sent home with gastro.’

‘I can be a cry-baby with pain but I knew in my gut (lol) something wasn’t right,’ she continued.
‘Turns out a large ovarian cyst had burst and infected my appendix. Surgery done and recovering.
‘Thank god for amazing nurses, a job I could never do yet admire so highly.’

Isabelle last made headlines in January 2025 when she was once again rushed to hospital after suffering a spinal injury during vacation.
The former reality TV star, who left Gogglebox in 2024, was enjoying some time away at the remote Turtle Island in Fiji when disaster struck.
The tropical vacation was cut short for Isabelle when she fractured her spine during a horse-riding accident.
She was taken by helicopter to the mainland – a 30-minute flight – alongside her husband Alex Richards for emergency treatment.
‘Turns out being on a remote island is bloody scary when you have a horse-riding accident, are in immense pain and don’t know how serious things are,’ she wrote on Instagram after the incident.

‘A medical evacuation helicopter was only available during daylight hours so I was carried by local Fijians on a stretcher 2km up a hill in the dark, onto a boat and to my hut,’ she added.
‘They were all barefoot in the scorching heat, holding my hand and reassuring me I would be okay.
‘They had a doctor on call and loaded me up with pain relief to get me through the night, even sitting on the beachfront outside the hut to make sure I didn’t need anything.
‘These people were absolute angels. Not to mention my husband who helped me wee into a glass… the kind of commitment that [was] not in our vows.’
She went on to stress how serious the situation was, explaining: ‘I was choppered to the mainland for scans confirming I’d fractured my spine.
‘One inch in either direction and my life could’ve looked very different today.’
