Fast forward to 2019, and court records indicate Nield was back in hot water again, this time for driving a motor vehicle while exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit.

The case dragged on in the Hobart Magistrates’ Court with hearings on May 20 and August 13, culminating in a facts, sentence, and restricted licence application hearing on October 30 that year.

Addressing his criminal history, Nield admitted his past is long behind him.

‘I made a few bad decisions and obviously paid the price,’ he told the Daily Mail.

‘It was a big learning curve for me, being a young immature man.

‘There’s been a lot of growth along the way, and I’d never put myself in those situations ever again. It’s not just about the impact it has on you, but also those close around you.’

Nield continued: ‘Every year I’m able to learn and make slight positive changes to my life that improve it bit by bit.

‘Even in the last 6 months, I’ve left Melbourne and relocated to Queensland, where I’ve never felt better.

‘Working with really close, long-term mates, focusing on health and fitness. I’ve never been more excited to see what the future holds.’

In a previous interview with Daily Mail, Nield insisted he’s ‘owning’ his past errors and charging ahead.

‘Obviously, everyone’s got issues. I’ve got my fair share of issues as well. Yeah. For me, it’s about moving forward,’ he said.

‘Everyone’s made mistakes. As I said, I’ve probably made more than most people, but yeah. But for me, it’s about owning it, and that’s what I’ve done. So now, yeah, to bigger and better.’

Nield said he suspected his past would resurface when he agreed to join the show.

‘For me, I knew like, why would you go, why would you go on a TV show? Why would you put yourself out there to be picked apart if you weren’t comfortable with your life or your personal life?’ he said.

‘So for me, that was a decision that I made right at the start. Like I knew.’

‘It’s more or less just bulls**t and things that aren’t true. Because when people come forward and say things about you that aren’t true, you still have to defend yourself, and it makes you look stupid,’ he said.
