Magda Szubanski has shared a very happy health update amid her battle with stage four cancer.
The 64-year-old comedian, who was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in 2025, told followers that she is now in remission after completing chemotherapy.
Posting to her stories on Friday, the Kath and Kim star took a dig at trolls who had shared a cruel hoax earlier this month that claimed Magda had passed away.
‘What else do I have to say?’ she said as she thanked fans for their support and paid tribute to her medical team.
‘I’m not dead, but I’ll have to check that with social media because they know more about me than I do,’ she quipped.
Magda looked lively as she described her news as ‘fantastic’.

‘I’ve completed chemo and I am now in remission. Phew!’ she said. ‘It’s not a cure, but if I’ve got a good remission, hopefully that will mean I’ll be able to keep the cancer at bay for a good long time’
‘I’ve completed chemo and I am now in remission. Phew!’ she said.
‘It’s not a cure, but if I’ve got a good remission, hopefully that will mean I’ll be able to keep the cancer at bay for a good long time.
‘And I also wanted to say a special huge thank you to you for all the love and support that you’ve shown.’
Telling fans that she felt loved and supported during her health crisis, Magda said that it helped physically as well as emotionally.
‘So eternal gratitude, thank you so much for that,’ she added.
Elsewhere in the clip, Magda praised her own health team and Australia’s medical community, calling it ‘one of the best in the world.’
‘There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t give profound thanks to the medical community… and also to the common sense of the Australian people that we see how practical and compassionate it is to have a really good medical system,’ she said.
Magda, who is an outspoken member of the LGBTQ+ community, also used her post to announce that she would be missing out on Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this weekend.

‘Happy, happy Mardi Gras, I’m so gutted I can’t be there, it’s unavoidable, but have a wonderful time,’ she said.
During her lengthy message to followers, Magda explained that while she loves getting hugs from fans, she asked people not to touch her because after chemo her immune system has been compromised.
Magda was subjected to a cruel hoax earlier this month.
A recent photo of the star was shared to social media and captioned with false and harmful information.
‘Thank you and goodbye Magda Szubanski. 1961 – 2026,’ the fake tribute read.
It was the second time this year the beloved Australian comedian has been the victim of a heartless hoax.
In January, Magda issued a warning to fans after online scammers used her likeness to con them out of money by making donations to a fake health fund for the star.
Magda has had a long and public journey with health issues.
She has previously spoken about living with osteoarthritis, autoimmune arthritis, sleep apnoea, and migraines.
In addition to her physical health, the comedian has been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness, candidly sharing her experiences with anxiety.
In a powerful essay for the ABC in 2022, Magda opened up about her lifelong struggle with weight and the harmful impact dieting had on her.
