Aussie sporting great Emma McKeon has opened up about how she is moving on following her shock split with fellow swimmer Cody Simpson.
McKeon, 31, and Simpson, 29, spent four years together as a couple, which included a stint living with one another and purchasing a home on the Gold Coast.
They went their separate ways in February, with Simpson recently declaring it was an ‘inevitable’ outcome.
In contrast, six-time Olympic gold medallist McKeon has maintained a dignified silence – until now.
On Thursday, McKeon shared a story on Instagram, revealing to her followers she has just finished reading Kate Reid’s book Destination Moon.
The memoir is about passion and finding purpose through the eyes of Reid, whose career led her to the bright lights of Formula 1 where she was an aerodynamicist.

In contrast, McKeon has maintained a dignified silence – and on Thursday, she shared a story on Instagram, revealing she has just finished reading Kate Reid’s memoir Destination Moon
Reid then turned her attention to establishing the world-renowned Lune Croissanterie, which has proven to be a smash hit at multiple venues across Australia.
‘I am so inspired by your words about re-discovering purpose, the unpredictability of life, rebuilding again and aiming for the stars has come at the perfect time,’ McKeon’s accompanying message in her Instagram story said.
According to Woman’s Day, an insider claimed the genetically-blessed couple split due to differing lifestyle goals.
While Simpson is once again pursuing his reinvigorated music career, McKeon is reportedly keen to settle down and start a family.
The insider also suggested McKeon ‘secretly longs’ for the kind of domestic lifestyle enjoyed by her ex Kyle Chalmers, who is now married to Ingeborg Løyning.
Chalmers and Løyning are also proud parents to baby Astrid.
‘Emma never wanted the glitzy life – she went along with Cody there for a while with endorsement deals with luxury labels but at the end of the day, that was all for Cody,’ a source claimed.
‘It was never a good fit for Emma who wants the same life her mum and dad have in regional Wollongong.’
Talk of trouble in paradise intensified when the duo sold their Gold Coast home last year, two years after they jointly purchased the property.
They secured the five-bedroom house in January 2023 for $1.826 million, sparing no expense to create their dream home together.
