Jeopardy!/Hulu
Chris D’Angelo first grabbed attention as a giant-slayer on Jeopardy! after taking down 10-game champion Tristan Williams, but what else is there to know about him?
As of May 27, D’Angelo, from Washington, D.C., has won five games with a total of $97,000. He will play his sixth game on Wednesday to try to surpass the $100,000 mark. He is originally from Havertown, Pennsylvania, and has tried to get on Jeopardy! for 21 years.
Jeopardy! fans know that he is a content manager who loves trivia. Find out more about the champion below.
His Jeopardy! journey inspired a movie
His sister, Jen, is a screenwriter and producer. She based the movie Quiz Lady, starring Awkwafina, around Chris’ journey to get on the show, he told 6ABC. “Maybe you can call me ‘Quiz Guy,’” D’Angelo told the outlet. “That’s fun. It works. But, you know, I don’t have a lot in common with Awkwafina‘s character beyond the game show interest and trying to get on the show for many years. Finally, this year I got the call,” he said.
Chris’ Career Path
D’Angelo labels himself as a content manager on the game show. According to his LinkedIn, he is a Social Studies Content Manager at Albert.io. He has worked at the company since 2022, which is basically virtual schooling.
Ken Jennings Reveals the Best Way to Study for ‘Jeopardy!’
Before that, he told 6ABC that he used to be a history teacher, so facts come naturally to him. D’Angelo has also been a school theater audition coach.
He got his Bachelor’s Degree in History and Drama from the University of Virginia and his Master’s of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida International University.
He comes from a trivia family
Jen told the outlet that Chris comes from a trivia family. “Chris knows everything. We were like a very trivia-forward family,” she said. Chris also does crossword puzzles regularly, which means he “knows a little about a lot of stuff.”
Jeopardy! stats
D’Angelo is the first contestant since Josh Weikert to win less than $100,000 in 5 games, according to Game Shows Wiki. During his second game, he became the tenth giant killer to win more than one regular-season game after defeating a super-champion. D’Angelo is also the fourth giant killer to advance to the TOC by winning five games.
His siblings are creative
Aside from his sister being a screenwriter, he also has a brother named Rob, who is an author and trivia host. Rob released his book Red Dawn 1984: Democracy versus Communism in October 2021.
Aside from Quiz Lady, Jen also produced Totally Killer, Game Over, Man!, and starred as Liam’s mom in Hocus Pocus 2, according to IMDb. She has won an Emmy Award for Quiz Lady.
His relationship status
D’Angelo is married. He has mentioned his wife, Ashley, on the game show, but not much is known about her. It is not clear if they have any children together.
