Gordon, Gino and Fredâs Road Trip is back for a third series on ITV, which sees the legendary TV chefs on a spectacular food tour across Greece. In the first episode, âMamma Mia!â, Gino takes a moment to reflect on his motherâs passing in 2017.
Celebrity chef and TV host Gino DâAcampo shared a tearful moment with Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix in Road Tripâs series three premiere.
The three TV foodies started their latest culinary adventure in the idyllic island of Santorini.
Recalling their best cooking experiences, Gordon recounted the time he served Princess Diana, whilst Fred reminisced about his familyâs Christmas seafood platter.
When it came to Gino D’Acampoâs gastro highlight, the Italian TV chef started getting choked up as he recalled visiting his mother for one last time.

âI think it has to be the most significant meal I had,â he started to explain. â13th of August 2017.
âI went to see my mum, and she cooked an amazing spaghetti vongole. Such a simple thing with garlic and a bit of cherry tomato and clams.â
Gino and his motherâs simple dinner would sadly be the last meal they shared together as Alba DâAcampo passed away shortly afterwards.
âThe day after, she died,â Gino then revealed, prompting Fred to comfort him with an arm around his shoulder.

He continued: âI think⌠it feels that she knew that she was going to die.
âSo she put everything into that meal, you know what I mean?â
This emotional start to Gordon, Fred and Ginoâs Greek adventure faded out as the travellers admired the sweeping view of Santorini.
Fred gave his co-presenter some encouraging pats on the back as Gino reflected on his moving tale.
Looking down at the picturesque scene, the three food experts shared a hug after sharing their precious culinary memories.
âThis is what itâs all about guys,â Gino exclaimed. âBreathe⌠and silence.â
Ginoâs Road Trip recollection wasnât the first time the British TV mainstay has paid tribute to his departed family members.
In 2019, he confirmed he had signed up as a judge on Bake Off Italia in part because he wished his parents were around to see it.
He told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning: âCan I be really honest with you?
âOne thing that I’m upset, I wish that my mum and dad were still alive because it would have been an amazing thing for them to see.â
Holly gave him a warm hug as he went on: âThat’s the only thing, like if my mum would have seen that I would have been on top of the world.â
Next time, the presenters will be sampling the best food Athens has to offer after visiting an ancient Olympic stadium.
