‘Edge of your seat thriller’ flies up Netflix chart(Image: INOXY FILMS)
An international action adventure film released on Netflix this week is currently number six on its chart of the streamer’s most-watched movies.
The new buddy thriller hailing from France follows two estranged friends who reunite when a woman they were both in love with suffers a mysterious death.
One of them has become a cop, while the other operates outside of the law as a mercenary.
When they realise their former flame’s teenage daughter is out for revenge, putting herself in grave danger, they’re forced to put aside their differences and chase after her.
The Orphans stars Alban Lenoir (Lost Bullet) and Dali Benssalah (Athena) as Gabriel Stenne and Driss, two ex-best friends who are thrown headfirst into a death-defying mission, with Sonia Faidi (Prime Target) along for the wild ride as vengeful teen Leïla Lakti.

Netflix subscribers can be assured they’re in for top-tier action set pieces as the new thriller is helmed by director Olivier Schneider, who previously worked as a stunt coordinator for hit Hollywood action films such as Spectre and Fast X.
Fans who have already made the film a streaming hit this week have heaped glowing praise onto the must-watch film, with one IMDb user claiming it’s “the best thing on Netflix in [an] age.”
They went on: “If I was to describe this it’s lethal weapon with a bit of bullet and some 007 just for good measure not forgetting also The Sweeney from the 70’s.
“It’s an old story but it still works today the whole 90 minutes fly by there’s laughter tears and a few wtf it’s a whole lot of fun.”

Enthusiasm continued on Letterboxd, where one user said: “Hot damn! Some really f***ing awesome stunts in this film and well crafted action scenes. GO SEE THIS!! It f***ing rocks.”
Someone else gave it a strong recommendation: “Lacking in story but making up for that with some pulse pounding action, this thriller rattles along at a fast pace and doesn’t require much thought.
“It’s well made, the first half is a little slow, making way for all the carnage in the second half. I really enjoyed it. If you like stuff like Lost Bullet, give this a go.”
The Orphans also received a glowing response from French fans, including from one who shared: “A very beautiful film! Great action scenes, stunts… Excellent work on the visuals as well, with magnificent shots of Biarritz.” (Translated from French)

And another raved: “This action film offers epic scenes: fights, stunts, explosions, chases… It keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end!
“In contrast to the violence of some scenes, the script reveals a tenderness and a profound empathy between the main characters, portrayed by superbly talented actors.” (Translated from French).
Will you be strapping yourself in for this blistering crime thriller that comes highly recommended this week? Make sure you don’t miss out.
The Orphans is available to stream on Netflix.
