A man has vanished from a houseboat in Queensland.

Police were called to Burnett Heads in the Bundaberg region about 1am (2am AEDT) after reports a man had gone into the water and not returned.

Police and emergency services attended the scene near Adams Street on the Burnett River in the early hours of this morning.

The man has not yet been found and the search is ongoing.

Burnett Heads has been heavily impacted by ongoing flooding in the region, which has claimed at least two lives already.

Two bodies were found yesterday in the search for two missing Chinese backpackers who were headed to the region for fruit picking work.

The clean up effort is underway in Bundaberg where hundreds of homes and businesses were affected by major flooding when the Burnett River peaked around 7.4 metres earlier this week.

The emergency effort is now moving to Longreach in the state’s central west, where major flooding is expected on the Thomson River on Sunday.

Low-lying properties in Longreach may be affected when the flood reaches its peak, expected to be between 6.5 and 7 metres.

Some properties could be isolated for more than a week and authorities expect the Landsborough Highway and Thomson Developmental Road at Watyakan Creek to be cut from Saturday.
