An adventurous 13-year-old girl who was killed in a Brisbane house fire has been remembered as a loving and caring person.
Police are investigating whether an e-scooter battery was the cause of a fire which killed Savannah Kerr, 13, and left four others in a critical condition.
Savannah died when a blaze tore through a home in Brisbane’s north early on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to Darcy Way in Lawnton just after 5.30am following reports of a significant fire.
At least five fire crews battled the fire, which they also had to shield neighbouring homes while containing the blaze.
Savannah was declared dead at the scene.

Four others, a teenage boy, a teenage girl, a man in his thirties, and a woman in her thirties, were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in life-threatening condition, Queensland Ambulance confirmed.
Family friend Jess Jay paid tribute to Savannah telling the Courier Mail, the 13-year-old girl was a character.
“Her sense of humour, like sometimes she had me speechless. I had no words most of the time. She was definitely someone that definitely touched me and my children in many ways,” she said.
“She had dogs, and the dogs had puppies. She absolutely just loves and adores them. She’s definitely an animal lover.”

Neighbour Daniel Cannon told the Courier Mail Savannah was a loving and caring person.
“She was a young, beautiful girl. It’s so heartbreaking to see her going, like everyone here has been crying. It’s just very heartbreaking,” he said.
“She was young, playful and she was always keen to have adventures. All she wanted to do was an adventure.”
Nearby homes were evacuated when the fire broke out, but residents were allowed to return shortly after 6.50am.
In an update on Sunday afternoon, Moreton District Senior Sergeant Joseph Zitny told media the house was well alight when police arrived.

“Following on from that, is that we have now enlisted not only our forensic people but also the Queensland Fire Department forensic people with the view to investigating the matter to establish what has taken place,” he said.
Not all residents were inside at the time of the fire, however, police believe the person who died lived at the home.
Sergeant Zitny added the possibility an e-scooter battery sparked the blaze is forming part of their investigation.
“There has been indication such as that, and that forms part of our inquiry and that’s one particular line that we are certainly progressing through,” he said.
“At this stage all I can say is that as I understand, there are some vehicles, an e-scooter and perhaps an e-bike, but that is still forming part of our investigation, one of our lines of inquiry.”
Four others, a teenage boy, a teenage girl, a man in his thirties, and a woman in her thirties, were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in life-threatening condition.
Neighbours described a chaotic scene as screaming and banging rang out before a family rushed onto the street.
Resident Stacey Maskell told the Courier Mail she initially thought another house was on fire after hearing the commotion and saw someone being doused with water as others tried to cool what appeared to be burns.
“I saw them tipping water over someone,” she said.
One person has died and four others are fighting for life after a house fire tore through a home in Brisbane’s north early Sunday morning.
Another neighbour, Steven Cannon, called it “insane”.
“I just didn’t know how to think or how to process it, honestly,” Mr Cannon said.
“I heard people arguing, and then I came out and saw the smoke. Then all hell broke loose.”
Premier David Crisafulli said the people involved, neighbours, and first responders were in his thoughts.
“It involves young people, it’s a tight-knit part of the city and it’s a tight-knit community,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“It’s just so incredibly sad that we can have a situation like this. It involves young people and that is heartbreaking.”
A crime scene has been established, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
