Her cheery disposition has made her the country’s go-to weather presenter, but Morar-born Carol Kirkwood has revealed she has secretly hankered after another high-profile role on the box.
Given the opportunity, she would have been mastering the art of sticky black plastic on the BBC’s legendary children’s programme ‘Blue Peter’
The kids’ programme is synonymous with John Noakes, Valerie Singleton and the late producer Biddy Baxter, who ran the magazine-style show from 1963-1988.
Carol’s dream about joining them was revealed yesterday on rival channel ITV, when she was being cooked a meal by the host of ‘James Martin’s Saturday Morning’.
The celebrity chef cooked her up a ‘well done’ steak at her request but then Carol left fans feeling for her when she began to talk about her age.

Ms Kirkwood is famous for her work as a weather presenter for the BBC
Discussing her previous work, the 63-year-old told James: “I worked as a secretary at the BBC for a while, as a production secretary ironically on BBC Breakfast, and then I left.
“But I’d still got lots of friends there and one of my friends said, ‘What do you want to do?’ and I said ‘I’d love to be a Blue Peter presenter, but of course I’m too old, I’m never going to do it’.”
Reassuringly, James told her: “Don’t be so daft!” but Carol insisted:”Well certainly not now.”
Fans registered their disappointment for her on X, with one tweeting: “Petition for #BluePeter to let Carol Kirkwood present an episode to fulfil her dream!!”
