One of Australia’s most celebrated romances is over with Cody Simpson and Emma McKeon reportedly calling it quits.

Emma McKeon and Cody Simpson have reportedly split after four years together.

The Olympics icon and pop star have been one of Australia’s most celebrated couples in recent years since they went Instagram official in July, 2022, having kept their romance secret for two months.

The Daily Telegraph first reported the pair quietly separated at the end of 2025.

According to the report, Simpson, 29, and McKeon, 31, “are still really good friends” and separated amicably.

The couple in November sold a Gold Coast property they owned together.

Rumours have swirled in recent months with the pair appearing to be living separate lives, as suggested by public appearances and content shared on social media.

McKeon didn’t interact with a birthday post Simpson shared last month. She did not make any public gesture on Simpson’s 29th birthday.

They also did not share Christmas or New Year’s Eve posts together.

Now the sad news has been confirmed.

There was such extreme fascination with the golden couple that they held a tell-all interview with Channel 7’s Spotlight in 2022.

Cody’s mum Angie told Woman’s Day at the time she loved their match up.

“I adore them as a couple, and they’re lovely friends to boot,” she said.

“Being on the Australian team together makes my heart sing – she’s there for Cody for all the right reasons.

“She’s a few years older – her maturity and cool head are the sort of qualities Cody adores in a woman.

“They’re two beautiful souls who fit together so well.

“With those gorgeous smiles, they’re like a couple of Cheshire cats — as mum, that makes me so happy.”

McKeon retired in November, 2024, as Australia’s most decorated Olympian, winning 14 medals — six gold, three silver and five bronze.

Simpson, famously returned to elite swimming after more than 10 years of pursuing his music career in Hollywood.

Four years after returning to the pool, Simpson won a Commonwealth Games gold medal as a heat swimmer in Australia’s 4x100m freestyle relay.

He fell short of his lifelong dream of representing Australia at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

McKeon was in 2024 crowned Young Australian of the Year.

At the time, Simpson was left gushing over his now ex-partner.

“The most special human @emmamckeon. Congratulations my love. So proud of you,” he wrote on Instagram.

Simpson, who previously dated Miley Cyrus, confessed in 2023 that he had feelings for Mckeon well before he acted on them.

“Emma is a huge part of my life, and has been such a positive influence on me in terms of keeping me grounded since we met,” he said.

“She is a really calming presence, she has really helped me, and she just impresses me so much, she is such a wonderful person.”
