Months have passed since the shocking trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, but the repercussions continue. While Mavs fans showed all their love for the Slovenian star when he returned to the American Airlines Center during the NBA regular season, the same cannot be said for Nico Harrison, General Manager of the Dallas Mavericks.
The executive of the Texas franchise has been very critical of Doncic and even pointed to the point guard’s weight, implying that it was one of the reasons behind the trade. However, journalist Tim MacMahon has now revealed a serious accusation made by Harrison against Luka.

Specifically, the aforementioned journalist reported that Nico Harrison and his inner circle believed the diagnosis of the wrist sprain that kept Luka Doncic off the court was false. On the contrary, they suspected it was an excuse for him to focus on losing weight, especially since the diagnosis came from the player’s personal medical team and not the Mavericks’ doctors.
According to MacMahon, Harrison and company believed that the wrist sprain diagnosis Doncic received in November was just a cover so he could concentrate on weight loss and improving his physical condition. The diagnosis was made by his personal medical team, not the Mavs’ staff.
Luka Doncic responds to Nico Harrison’s remarks
In an interview with ESPN, Luka Doncic was asked about Nico Harrison’s ongoing criticism. “It’s sad how he talks now. I never say anything bad about him, and I just want to move on. I will always remember the fans and my former teammates. It’s time to move forward,” responded the current Los Angeles Lakers player.
Dallas Mavericks: without Luka Doncic and out of everything
The Texas franchise had reached the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics in the previous edition, but ever since Luka Doncic left, everything has fallen apart. The Dallas Mavericks not only dropped to tenth place in the Western Conference, but they also lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in the Play-In and were eliminated from playoff contention.
