LeBron James is undoubtedly the player who generates the most love and hate in NBA history. And in a new chapter of those things that only happen with “The King,” a former teammate of Michael Jordan sent him a message regarding his title with the Lakers.

With the arrival of Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers built a title-contending team for the 2019–20 season, but then came the coronavirus pandemic, and the end of the season was suddenly at risk.

The Lakers finished the regular season with 52 wins and 19 losses before heading to Orlando to begin the Playoffs in the so-called “NBA Bubble.” With no fans in the stands and strict protocols to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks, LeBron James began his path toward the championship.

First came a 4–1 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, followed by another 4–1 win against the Houston Rockets. The Lakers’ run through the 2020 NBA Playoffs continued, and after beating the Denver Nuggets 4–1 in the Western Conference Finals, they advanced to face the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.

Ron Harper was Michael Jordan’s teammate for four seasons, and when analyzing the Lakers’ 4–2 victory over the Heat to win the 2020 NBA title, the former player sent a blunt message to LeBron James:
“The bubble ring is just that! A bubble ring… Trash!”

It wasn’t just the three championships Harper won with Jordan on the Chicago Bulls—he also added two more titles with the Los Angeles Lakers, ending his career with five rings in total. That’s one more than LeBron James, who has won four NBA championships as of the start of the 2025–26 season.
