The New York Knicks delivered a major upset in the 2025 NBA Playoffs by eliminating the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, in six games. With this victory, the Knicks ended a 25-year drought without reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will face the Indiana Pacers — the very same franchise they faced in the 1999-2000 season.
However, this Knicks’ triumph also put the Celtics under scrutiny, fueling rumors about trades and roster changes in the Boston team. One of the players rumored to be on the trading block was Jaylen Brown, the most recent Finals MVP. Nevertheless, the shooting guard left no doubts about his future.

Jaylen Brown Announces He Will Stay with the Boston Celtics
Despite rumors suggesting he might leave the Celtics, Jaylen Brown spoke out following the tough elimination at the hands of New York City and made it clear that he will continue wearing green next season.
“I think we fought hard, we were in many battles, and there’s a lot to be excited about. This journey is not the end for me; I’m really looking forward to coming back stronger, so we have to face this with our heads held high,” he said in an interview with the press.

Immediately after, he reaffirmed:
“There’s a lot to look forward to, and I want the city [Boston] to get excited about that. This is not the end, so I’m really hopeful for what’s coming.”
With this, Brown confirmed his commitment to stay with the Boston Celtics and seek revenge.
What did Jaylen Brown say about the Celtics’ elimination?
“Obviously, it’s tough how we were eliminated tonight, but personally, given how I finished the year—overcoming some physical issues I was dealing with—I’m proud of our group,” Jaylen Brown said following the crushing 119-81 loss that sealed the 4-2 series win for the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
