This Morning is set to be the next victim of ITV‘s budget cuts sparking a dramatic change in the show’s format.

Sources have revealed to MailOnline that while This Morning has so far been unaffected by this week’s announcement, the long running series will be forced to significantly reduce production value as a result of cost saving.

Presented by Cat Deeley, 48, and Ben Shephard, 50, as well as Alison Hammond, 50, and Dermot O’Leary, 51, the programme has become known for its big musical theatre performances and outside broadcasts, including at the This Morning forest, which was purchased by the channel in 2021.

But insiders have claimed sending the likes of host Alison to Los Angeles for interviews with Hollywood stars and large-scale production items will be scrapped.

MailOnline understands that ITV daytime staff have been warned the channel’s shows including Lorraine and Loose Women, which will only air 30 weeks of the year from January, are set to look ‘different’ because of slashed budgets.

A TV source revealed that bosses will no longer be able to ‘justify’ big, splashy, Showbiz-filled segments when they are making huge cuts so dramatically behind the scenes and staff, including those employed at This Morning, are at risk of losing their jobs.

The insider revealed: ‘This Morning may have not been hit by the cuts on the surface, but the show is going to look completely different when this all comes into effect next year.

‘The cost of production is on the rise and budgets are going to be significantly reduced when the shows launch in their new schedule slots.

‘As well as cuts behind the scenes, there will be big changes on camera, especially on This Morning, big production items like musical theatre performances or outside broadcasts, which is what the show is famous for, will be cut.

‘Gone are the days of flying talent like Alison Hammond to Los Angeles to interview Hollywood stars.

‘The general consensus among staff is that the shows are being put on life support and within time, Lorraine and Loose Women will be the first to be cancelled.’

Cat and Ben became This Morning hosts last March following the controversial departure of ex-presenter Phillip Schofield.

Phil left the programme in May 2023 following widespread claims he had engaged in an extra-marital affair with a young male colleague who first joined the show as an intern.

Holly Willoughby, who had co-presented the show for over 14 years, quit five months later and has since gone onto host Netflix series Celebrity Bear Hunt.

The cuts to Lorraine and Loose Women, which were announced on Tuesday, will see the shows only air for 30 weeks of the year and be off screen during children’s school holidays.

Lorraine has also been reduced from an hour-long slot to 30 minutes, with Good Morning Britain, fronted by Susanna Reid extended to fill the gap.

MailOnline revealed on Wednesday that the Loose Women were ‘up in arms’ over the cuts and ‘panicked’ as their livelihoods were put at risk.

Sources told how veteran stars of the panel like Ruth Langsford, 65, fear job losses as the channel looks to monetise on younger talent like former Love Island star Olivia Attwood, 34, and influencer GK Barry, 25.

Anchor Ruth, who previously co-hosted This Morning with ex-husband Eamonn Holmes until 2021, has been on the programme since the beginning, making her the longest serving panelist.
