Tragic details surrounding those affected by Victoria’s devastating bushfires have been revealed – including how a woman lost her home on the same day her mother died.
Harcourt local Mandy Dashwood is also fighting breast cancer as she begins rebuilding her home after two life-altering events over the weekend.
Her niece, Remi Goldrick, has set up a GoFundMe page to help her “deserving Aunty Mandy”.
“Mandy had created the most beautiful sanctuary as a home, filled with love and laughter and a perfect home for her gorgeous goat and delightful dogs,” her niece wrote.
“While she’s kept her animals safe, she has lost essentially everything else and has to start over, all while planning a funeral for her mother.

“Aunty Mandy would never ask for us to put together a GoFundMe.
“But I couldn’t help but think that there would be so much that insurance couldn’t possibly cover.
“So much time that would need to be taken off work, time spent finding things, rebuilding, looking after her beloved animals.”
Ms Goldrick said Mandy had helped vulnerable Australians experiencing domestic violence for years.
“She’s tough stuff. But that’s Mandy. She’s kept a brave face, we are doing what we can to rally around her,” the post continued.
The devastating details are just one of many revealed in fundraisers set up by loved ones of residents who have been affected by the devastating blazes, which are continuing to burn across Victoria.

“All of their clothes, cutlery, bathroom utensils, fridge, beds and, well, everything, save for a few photos and the pets, which were grabbed in a wicked rush on the way out of the door (still looking for Little Kitty though),” her sister-in-law, Troy Norris, who set up the GoFundMe, wrote.

Ms Quinton and her family have been part of the Harcourt community for “a long time” with all of her children attending the local primary school.
She also works in Harcourt and helps with local community events.
“This family are a lot to me, but it is absolutely heartbreaking that they haven’t a home any more,” the post continued.

“In a matter of hours, everything they had built over a lifetime was destroyed,” a fundraiser set up by Mr Fuentes’ son Rueben reads.
Their home was held dearly to them, as it was the “heart of their farm,” family close to them said.
Rueben said the couple they lost furniture, clothing, tools, equipment and irreplaceable family memories along with the farmhouse,
During the chaos of evacuating they were “forced to leave” their car.

Rueben said his parents are “deeply committed to serving others,” as the couple regularly volunteer at a fortnightly food bank program that provides meals, groceries, and clothing to migrants, volunteering with the local church they attend.
He said they are now facing “extensive and costly” clean up and much of the property must be made safe before any rebuilding can begin.
At current, Victoria’s total structural losses climbs past 350 while fire authorities continue to battle uncontrolled blazes across the state.
