In one of the worst kept secrets in Married At First Sight history, bride Brook Crompton sensationally quit the experiment this week.
Daily Mail revealed back in February that Brook abruptly quit the experiment, and last week revealed that she had rekindled a romance with her ex, and is now pregnant.
And those dramatic scenes played out on air on Tuesday night when Brook, 27, surprisingly packed her bags, leaving groom Chris Nield, 31, shocked and crestfallen.
After apparently bonding during Monday’s intimacy week challenge, Brook admitted in an off-camera chat, with Chris that she wanted some space.
Speaking with Chris about the confrontation, Brook said: ‘I need to be a little bit selfish, you know. Take a step back, know the person I want you to be.’
Brook made reference to Chris’ slip-ups, particularly the comments he made about women in his audition video.

‘I can’t be holding your hand with the slip-ups and things. It’s a lot to deal with,’ she said.
‘I think you’ve got a lot of work to do on yourself, I’ve got a lot of work to do on myself. I’m not feeling it right now.’
Sexpert Alessandra Rampolla assigned the grooms ‘covert tasks’ to perform for their brides and Chris returned to the apartment with a renewed vigour.
‘I’d do something nice for Brook regardless, but it’s trying to reinforce the fact that I’m here and I’m doing the best that I can.’
The doting groom decided on a ‘spa night’ for his bride, running her a bubble bath and adorning the bathroom with champagne and face masks for two.
This did not sit well with Brook, who admitted to feeling ‘overwhelmed’ at the gesture.
‘Obviously I’m feeling a little overwhelmed,’ she told producers. ‘I was looking forward to some space but he’s going out and doing this task to make me feel good.
‘I feel a little bit smothered. I’ve tried to explain that to him so many times and I don’t think he’s understanding.’

Brook went off to enjoy her bubble bath alone, leaving Chris feeling disappointed.
‘I definitely feel like I’m in limbo,’ Chris said, admitting he was still hopeful that the couple could overcome the hurdle.
The gesture proved fruitless, however, with Brook sensationally packing her bags and leaving the experiment.
When asked for an explanation for Brook’s departure, Chris was at a loss for words.
‘I’m just trying to think how to word it,’ he said.
‘Brook’s decided to go back home to the Gold Coast. She’s just followed her mind and her heart and had to pull the pin.’
Declaring his fondness for his reality bride, Chris admitted to being upset over Brook’s sudden exit.
‘I’m not going to sit here and like and say I’m not upset,’ he said.

Chris said that the hurt was made even more apparent, given the connection he believed the couple had established in their time together
‘I think anyone with feelings and emotions directed towards someone and then obviously they’re not reciprocating, it’s always going to hurt.’
Chris added that the hurt was made even more apparent, given the connection he believed the couple had established in their time together.
‘I’ve said from the start that I thought she was this amazing person with an awesome personality. We got along so well and had a lot in common. It feels like I’ve known her for years,’ he said.
‘Brook’s gone and I’m here by myself now and it’s difficult. It feels like there’s a void now.’
Despite the jilting, Chris admitted full responsibility, while holding out a morsel of hope that he could change Brook’s mind.
It’s obviously sad but I understand how we’ve gotten to where we are. I know it all stems from me, my attitude and my audition video,’ he said.
‘I’m more just disappointed in myself.’
It seems that Brook’s departure may have been the wakeup call Chris needed.

‘The biggest thing for me is to start thinking a lot more about the gravity of situations before I make comments and remarks which get me in trouble every day in life,’ he said.
‘Obviously I hope I can change how she feels about me but now, I just feel defeated.’
It follows news that Brook is now engaged and pregnant – and not with her television husband.
