Two kids from Townsville have died after a horror house fire last Sunday.
Two-year-old Hallie and 13-year-old Evie were pulled from the blaze on Gum Ct at Bushland Beach, but succumbed to their injuries on Thursday.
The girls suffered severe breathing difficulties in the fire, which had completely engulfed their home by the time emergency services arrived and found them inside.
Hallie and Evie had been at home with their mother, Karah Perry, and their brothers, aged 15 and 17.
Perry managed to escape and survive the non-suspicious fire with her two boys, who were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital in stable conditions.
The tragedy plunged Perry, a devoted single mother and a registered nurse at Townsville University Hospital, into “unimaginable heartbreak”.
“Our family is devastated by what has happened, and we are still trying to come to terms with the scale of this tragedy,” a family statement said earlier this week.
“The emotional, physical and financial strain on her and the wider family is overwhelming.”

Perry remained by her children’s side in hospital ICU, where she was informed of their poor prognosis.
A GoFundMe fundraiser to support Perry and her family through their loss has now raised $83,766.
“Karah has always worked tirelessly to provide for her children,” fundraiser organiser Isabella Retallick said. “She has spent her career caring for others.
“Now, she is facing overwhelming challenges all at once: time away from work, temporary housing, replacing basic necessities.”
This anguish and struggle was all outlined in the statement issued days before her two youngest children died of their injuries.
Now, Perry faces the unimaginable task of recovery and rebuilding for her surviving children as she grieves the loss of Hallie and Evie.
“Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference,” Retallick said.
