A local dispute has taken a terrifying turn in Melbourne’s southwest after a man allegedly hacked his neighbour’s front door with a chainsaw.

Security footage captured the 43-year-old allegedly yelling outside his neighbour’s home in Point Cook on Thursday morning.

“You want f***ing trouble? I’ll give you trouble you motherf***er,” the man yelled.

The tirade then allegedly escalated to threats.

“I’ll f***ing kill ya,” the man said.

Inside the home, initially Sean Tavilla thought he was safe.

“Just leave me alone. I’ll keep watching me TV and hopefully he’ll piss off,” Tavilla said.

But the man didn’t leave him alone and instead returned armed.

“At that point, he’s using a hatchet and a machete to smash through me timber door,” Tavilla said.

When that didn’t work, he upgraded to a chainsaw.

During the man’s fit of rage, he’s also accused of smashing another neighbour’s car with an axe.

“Swinging from above his head, smashing the absolute hell out of it,” witness Zack Cole said.

It didn’t take long for police to identify the suspect. He lives in between the trashed home and the damaged car.

The man was arrested on Thursday night and is facing a raft of charges. He was released on bail on Friday.

“You just lose faith in the system,” Tavilla said.

When the man returned home on Friday morning, there was more bad news waiting – he was met with an eviction notice.

“Everyone’s tried to help him. There’s no sympathy left,” Tavilla said.
