‘Freaky’ Robert De Niro thriller warned not for the ‘faint hearted’(Image: 20th CENTURY STUDIOS)

“Freaked out” movie buffs cannot get enough of a horror movie that’s “scared the daylights” out of them.

At the heart of this highly-rated “suspense thriller” is Taxi Driver and The Godfather II icon Robert De Niro as widowed psychologist David Callaway.

After his wife unexpectedly dies by suicide, David and his traumatised daughter Emily (Dakota Fanning) move to upstate New York for a fresh start.

However, to help her come to terms with what’s happened, Emily creates an imaginary friend called Charlie, who turns out to be sinister and violent, leading to a series of disturbing events.

But not all is as it seems in the 2005 movie Hide and Seek as fans haven’t been able to stop pointing out its “shocking ending”.

Taking to IMDb, someone stated there’s a “plot twist I didn’t expect”, with another writing: “The ending is definitely a surprise” and a third echoing: “The ending was a big shocker to me.”

While De Niro heads up the cast of this “intriguing suspense thriller”, he is joined by actress Dakota Fanning who has starred in The Watchers, Netflix ’s The Perfect Couple and All Her Fault.

But, much like her sister Elle Fanning, Dakota was a child actress, starring not only in Hide and Seek but War of the Worlds, Uptown Girls and I Am Sam.

Horror fanatics are now in luck as Hide and Seek was released on Sunday, March 1, on the free streaming service Tubi so viewers can watch whenever they wish.

Continuing to sing its praises, a fan commented: “Amazing horror, actually giving the creepy vibe and keeping you on your toes.”

A fellow fan warned: “Not recommended for the faint of heart”, as someone else said: “This thriller scared the daylights out of me.

“I loved it and the ride was so intense I thought I’d burst at the end of the movie.”

Meanwhile, others said they were “absolutely on the edge of my seat the entire time” and “totally freaked out”, with no marking it as “one of my favourite movies”.
