Robson Green is known and loved for his portrayal of down-to-earth detective Geordie Keating in ITV’s long-running detective series, Grantchester, which has amassed a legion of fans over the years and is a much-loved staple of the channel.
But Grantchester isn’t Robson Green’s only hit crime drama on ITV. Over 20 years ago, the actor starred in the gritty detective series, Wire in the Blood, which drew in millions of viewers upon its debut in 2002 – and it’s currently available to stream on ITVX.

The series, which ran for six seasons from 2002 to 2008, sees Robson play oddball psychologist Dr Tony Hill, who helps the police to solve a chain of grisly murders in the fictional town of Bradfield.

What is Wire in the Blood about?
Based on Scottish crime writer Val McDermid’s Tony Hill and Carol Jordan novel series, the drama follows eccentric clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill, who is recruited by the police to get inside the heads of serial killers. Teaming up with DCI Carol Jordan (Hermione Norris), Tony takes on tough cases in the hopes of tracking down killers before they strike again.

The series is well-loved among crime drama fans and has been hailed as “suspenseful British drama at its best” and an “excellent, gritty series” by viewers.
One person wrote in an online review: “I loved this show, six great series, twisted, bleak and mind bending crimes. The show shocked, thrilled, entertained and intrigued,” while another said the show was worth binge-watching. A third fan penned: “This is one of the best crime series if not the best crime series I’ve ever seen. Robson Green is amazing in it.”
