Bridgerton fans enjoy many aspects of the show but there’s just something about those sex scenes.

While some viewers fell in love with the Netflix show’s chaste courtship traditions, many couldn’t stop talking about those steamy moments — including the cast.

“I love [Daphne’s] coming-of-age story and her sexual awakening. … My first-ever scene was in episode six, where Simon [Regé-Jean Page] is going down on Daphne,” season 1 leading lady Phoebe Dynevor revealed during an interview with Grazia UK in December 2020. “And it was so great, because it felt safe and fun: you choreograph it like a stunt or a dance. It’s crazy to me that that hasn’t been there in the past.”

Ahead of season 2, showrunner Chris van Dusen opened up about taking the series in a new direction when it came to those graphic love scenes.

“It was never about quantity for us,” the creator told reporters in March 2022. “Our approach to intimacy on the show really is the same as season 1. And we use these intimate scenes to tell a story and to push the story forward. We’ve never done a sex scene for the sake of doing a sex scene, and I don’t think we ever will.”

Dusen added: “It all serves a larger purpose and it’s a different story this season. It’s different characters. We’re with Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley) most of the [second] season and that’s very different from Daphne and Simon. And that’s really part of the draw to me of a project like this, the ability to tell these close-ended love stories of different characters season after season.”

Season 3 seemed to return to its roots with Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) sharing many steamy moments.

Following an entire season of miscommunication, Simon and Daphne are finally able to work out the emotional obstacles that hold their relationship back. The twosome celebrated by reconnecting sexually, which later led to the birth of their son.

Anthony and Kate’s Bee Moment

Fans were in for a surprise when the iconic bee scene was retold to keep the slow burn going. In Julia Quinn‘s The Viscount Who Loved Me, Anthony rushing to save Kate resulted in their marriage. On the show, the couple shared a private connection when Kate put Anthony’s hand on her chest to show him that she was unharmed. This resulted in both being overcome by their feelings for one another.

After several almost kisses, the twosome finally got the chance after Edwina (Charithra Chandran) called off the wedding. What was meant to be a goodbye between Anthony and Kate turned into a very passionate kiss in the church following consistent buildup.

In another twist, the season 2 couple’s first time together took place ahead of their wedding. After not being able to stay away from one another, Anthony and Kate finally gave into their feelings during a sensual scene in the garden behind his home.

The season 2 finale brought about many happy moments, including a glimpse at Anthony and Kate’s newlywed bliss. The last scene of the season teased the married couple’s steamy morning in bed before they joined the Bridgerton family for a game of Pall Mall.

Fresh off a post-nuptial trip, Kate and Anthony couldn’t keep their hands off each other throughout the first half of the third season — and we aren’t complaining! The fan-favorite couple subsequently decided to go on another honeymoon where they could continue to enjoy their martial bliss before taking on their responsibilities.

Fans of Romancing Mr. Bridgerton were seated the second Colin entered Penelope’s carriage during season 3. After weeks of battling his feelings for Penelope, Colin revealed that he wanted to be with her. Once Penelope confirmed that Colin’s feelings were reciprocated, the twosome started to make out in the carriage.

Their intimate moment almost led to Penelope and Colin having sex before they arrived at Colin’s house. Colin decided there and then to propose to Penelope.
