Australia’s biggest reality television juggernaut is back.
Daily Mail can reveal filming has commenced on the 2027 season of Married At First Sight, with production kicking off in Sydney this week for the Channel Nine show.
Producers have once again assembled a cast packed with big personalities, complicated backstories, and the kind of romantic baggage that has made the franchise addictive viewing.
On Thursday, Adelaide bride Kristen Goedecke was seen crying just minutes after arriving to her wedding at the St George Sailing Club in Sydney.
The real estate agent broke down in tears while filming a piece to camera with producers.
She will be paired with Perth-based groom, Kayne Buik, who first shot to fame on Sam Frost‘s season of The Bachelorette.

Kayne is no stranger to searching for love on reality TV, having appeared on the Channel 10 dating show in 2015, where he became known for his offbeat attempts to win Sam over.
At the time, the then-25-year-old former mining electrician was dubbed the show’s ‘gimmick guy’ after trying everything from a hip hop dance to a yoga headstand and even a Frosty Fruit in a bid to impress her.
While the stunts failed to secure him a rose, Kayne later insisted he had no regrets, saying he was simply being spontaneous and wanted to make Sam laugh.
Since then, Kayne has reinvented himself as a singles scene entrepreneur, building the popular Hey Honey events brand and amassing more than 220,000 followers on TikTok, where he shares dating content and observations about modern romance.
One insider said Kayne was an obvious choice for producers because he ‘understands the dating world better than most’ and knows how to hold a room.
‘He’s built an entire brand around singles, flirting and modern dating, so putting him inside the MAFS experiment is pretty perfect,’ the source said.
‘He’s confident, funny and very switched-on socially. He knows how to make people feel comfortable, but he also knows how to get attention when he wants it.’
Another source said Kayne’s return to reality TV would be ‘one of the more interesting storylines’ of the upcoming season.

‘He’s older now, he’s more self-aware, and he’s not the same guy who was doing random stunts on The Bachelorette,’ the insider said.
‘But he still has that spontaneous streak. You don’t cast someone like Kayne expecting him to sit quietly in the background.’
Behind the scenes, producers are said to be quietly thrilled with the cast that spans pub owners, footy players, beauty professionals, property identities and serial daters, with several bringing the kind of backstories MAFS thrives on.
One source close to production said the new cast has been chosen with ‘chemistry, confidence and conflict’ firmly in mind.
‘They know exactly what viewers want from MAFS,’ the insider said.
‘They want romance, but they also want strong characters who are not afraid to speak up. This cast has plenty of that.’
The new season arrives at a pivotal moment for the global MAFS franchise.
‘There has been a lot of discussion about duty of care and casting the right people,’ one source said. ‘But at the same time, this is still MAFS. They are not making a quiet season.’

‘They’ve been listening very closely,’ the source said.
‘The audience has been saying for a while they miss the genuine love stories.
‘They want couples they can actually invest in instead of watching endless scandals play out on Instagram.’
Meanwhile, Daily Mail understands producers believe next year’s cast could become one of the strongest in years if the revamped selection process delivers.

Meanwhile, casting isn’t the only major change looming over the franchise.
Following the devastating death of relationship expert Mel Schilling, producers are set to soon announce a replacement for the beloved star.
Daily Mail previously revealed back in 2024 that EndemolShine executives quietly interviewed several respected relationship experts as part of contingency planning for the future of the panel.
At the time, producers ultimately chose to retain the popular trio of Mel, John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla.
Daily Mail can reveal John and Alessandra are both locked in to return, while Mel’s successor is expected to be officially announced shortly.
Sources have insisted producers are looking for someone with genuine clinical credibility rather than a celebrity appointment.
‘The audience wants someone they’ll trust,’ one source said.
‘They want experts who aren’t afraid to call out bad behaviour, challenge participants and actually help couples.’
Despite ongoing speculation online, insiders said one name has already been ruled out.
‘They’ve completely ruled out having a former participant like Lucinda Light joining the panel,’ they revealed.
‘They absolutely love Lucinda, but they don’t believe having a former bride as an expert fits the direction they’re taking.
‘They’re looking for someone with professional authority who complements John and Alessandra, not someone who becomes part of the story.’
Married At First Sight returns to Channel Nine in February 2027.
