Baby killer Jamie Varley is attempting to protect himself in prison by adopting a new identity after being sentenced to life in prison for the horrific abuse and murder of 13-month-old Preston Davey
Reports indicate that Varley assumed the fabricated identity of Harry Robb within days of arriving at HMP Wakefield, known as Monster Mansion due to the dangerous criminals housed there. Sources indicate that Varley, 37, has officially requested a deed poll change of name, a process costing $71.07.
He has also allegedly incorporated the middle name “Jae.” A prison source revealed, “He has changed his name to Harry Jae Robb in the hope of giving himself anonymity. He’s absolutely petrified.”
The insider told the Daily Mail: “There have already been threats against him, and he thinks that by changing his name, people are less likely to recognize him and know who he is,” the Daily Star reports. “He knows he has a huge target on his back, and he thinks his new name will make him safer and will help him escape vigilante attacks.”

Varley is reportedly fearful of suffering the same fate as Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins, who was fatally stabbed in the neck at the facility last October. Earlier this month, the Ministry of Justice denied rumors that the pedophile was stabbed in jail.
Records show that Varley, handed a rare whole-life order last month following his conviction for sexually abusing and murdering Preston, now appears to be taking every possible measure to remain hidden.
His former partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, was handed a 25-year prison sentence for allowing the death of a child, child cruelty, and sexual assault. The couple had attempted to start fresh following their relocation to a five-bedroom $602,876 detached property just three weeks after Preston’s murder.
Outside the court where Varley was sentenced, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows, who led the murder investigation for Lancashire Police, said the case was one of the “most challenging” the police force had ever undertaken. “Jamie Varley is an evil and monstrous individual who sexually, physically and mentally abused a vulnerable baby for his own sadistic pleasure,” he said.

“I struggle to imagine the horror that Preston endured in his short life,” he added. “This has been one of the most challenging investigations our force major investigation team has ever undertaken, and the most extreme example of sordid and wicked behavior by two completely remorseless human beings.”
