It won’t be long until we see Peter again. 

THINGS ARE DIFFERENT now. Look, people—we remember the heyday of 24, when we would be treated to a new, 24-episode political conspiracy thriller adventure every year, like clockwork. The wait didn’t feel long, and when the time came, Jack Bauer was waiting to lead us on another mysterious, outlandish, and often-tortured adventure. But things have changed, and so have our expectations; most shows now take years between seasons (with The Bear and Slow Horses remaining as a couple notable exceptions). But The Night Agent, Netflix’s political conspiracy thriller that essentially serves as a spiritual successor to 24 (just without the “real-time” gimmick) is trying to get on that path.

Sure, there was a two-year gap between the first season of The Night Agent (which came out early in 2023) and the second (which came out in January 2025). But the show is the kind of story that serves best by just adding more and more with each passing year; a season-long conspiracy is exactly the type of problem that Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is best at solving—and it plays well that way over 10-episode seasons on TV.

Now that The Night Agent season 2 has concluded, though, we’re all wondering the same thing: when is this going to come back? While we don’t have an exact date for you just yet, we can confirm a couple important things. It will be returning, and it’ll be sooner than you think.

That’s because Netflix has been proactive, identifying that the more episodes of The Night Agent they produce, the more people will watch. And for that reason, a new season is already well in the works. Here’s what we know.

Will The Night Agent have a season 3?

Yes! The Night Agent will return for season 3. It was actually renewed for a third season back on October 8th, 2024, months before season 2 premiered; this allowed the show to get a major head start when it comes to writing, planning, casting, and more. In fact, as of January 2025, the show is filming its third season in Istanbul.

Just like with season 2, the show is also adding new cast members for season 3 as well—Jennifer Morrison (who is best known for her role in House) is joining the show, along with Stephen Moyer (best known for True Blood) and David Lyons (known for E.R. and Truth Be Told). The Night Agent will keep cycling new characters in and out, and just like with the first two seasons, you’ll have to keep questioning who you can and cannot trust.

When will The Night Agent season 3 come out on Netflix?

We don’t know exactly when The Night Agent season 3 will be released on Netflix just yet. But since the show is already filming, and the last two seasons have been released in January, we can safely assume that it will come out in January of 2026 at the very latest.

However, since the show got that head start on filming its third season, there’s a small chance that season 3 premieres before the end of 2025. Not likely, but given how big of a hit the show has been for Netflix, there’s a chance that it remains on the fast track. We will just have to wait and see.
