Premiering on March 5, The Leopard has become a global sensation, ranking in Netflix’s top 10 in multiple countries. Following Netflix’s successful formula seen in series like Bridgerton, The Leopard boasts grand visuals, an attractive cast, and numerous daring intimate scenes.

Based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel, The Leopard is set in 19th-century Italy during its unification. The story centers on Don Fabrizio Corbera (played by Kim Rossi Stuart), a noble living a lavish life in Sicily. However, the war between King Francis II and Giuseppe Garibaldi’s Redshirts changes everything.

Netflix’s ambition is evident in this adaptation of Italy’s renowned work. The novel was previously adapted into a successful 1963 film starring Claudia Cardinale and Alain Delon. The 2025 series showcases elaborate visuals with opulent costumes and majestic castles, reflecting 19th-century aristocratic life.

Costume designer Carlo Poggioli provided 6,000 costumes for the production, including 350 ball gowns and over 500 military uniforms. To distinguish this series from the classic film, a workshop in Rome employed 25 workers who used over 3,000 meters of fabric to create new designs for the female cast and extras.

The Leopard also shocks audiences with its bold intimate scenes and features Deva Cassel, the 21-year-old daughter of Italian actress Monica Bellucci and French actor Vincent Cassel. With her striking beauty and captivating presence, Deva Cassel has quickly become a highlight, capturing viewers’ attention and admiration.
