John Legend’s daughter may be the next entertainer in the household.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Grammy award-winning artist, 46, gave an update on his four children’s current interests. Legend, who shares his kids with wife Chrissy Teigen, shared that his daughter Luna, 8, has a major role in her school’s production of The Lion King.

“Luna is 8. She’s in third grade. She’ll be 9 very soon,” he told Fallon. “She’s doing musical theater at school. She’s playing Young Nala in Lion King.“

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, Teigen, 39, first revealed that her daughter landed her favorite role in a school version of The Lion King. To celebrate, Teigen gifted Luna with a giant balloon surprise hidden in the trunk of her car.

“Luna got the part in the lion king she wanted!! wasn’t gonna open the trunk if the outcome was different but YAYYYYYYYYYY!,” Teigen wrote over a video clip of the big reveal on her Instagram Stories.

In addition to musical theater, Luna also may be gearing up to be a modern-day Joan Rivers.

“Luna doesn’t like anything I wear ever,” she told the hosts. “She doesn’t like cleavage. She’s very modest. Except, you know how kids nowadays will wear crop tops with big baggy jeans and stuff? She tends to do like masculine stuff, so with me, when I get dressed up, she’s just very … like, if she saw this, she’d be buttoning it up.”

Legend and Teigen first became parents in April 2016 with the birth of their daughter Luna. Teigen then gave birth to the couple’s first son, Miles Theodore, in May 2018. After suffering a devastating pregnancy loss in 2020, Legend and Teigen grew their family by two in 2023. Daughter Esti Maxine arrived in January, and the pair welcomed son Wren Alexander Stephens via surrogate in June.

“For me, the hardest part is making sure the older ones feel loved and taken care of and just as special as the babies,” she said. “There’s a lot of diaper changing and feeding and it seems like you’re coddling these two little babies and they’re not getting enough. I think any parent of multiple kids can understand that you want to make sure they still feel loved.”

Legend’s love for his wife and kids inspired him to write a children’s album titled My Favorite Dream.

“I want our babies AND yours to find joy and inspiration and comfort from this music,” the singer wrote on Instagram in August 2024. “I hope it helps them fall in love with music and helps them cope with all the worries and challenges they may have.”
