Millie Bobby Brown admits she “cried a lot” on her final day of filming Stranger Things, feeling overwhelmed.

Millie Bobby Brown bid an emotional farewell to Stranger Things as she wrapped up filming the hit Netflix series in December 2024.

During a March 11 interview on the Today show, the 21-year-old actress admitted she was overwhelmed on her final day on set, despite initially thinking she would be fine.

“I kind of was like, ‘Oh, I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine, I’ll be fine.’ And then I realized I was not fine. I cried a lot,” Brown said, explaining that the realization of all her “lasts” on set hit her suddenly.

Brown, who played Eleven on the show since its debut in 2016, compared the moment to a graduation in a heartfelt Instagram post on Dec. 20. “I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys,” she said in a speech, calling her cast and crew a family.

The Duffer Brothers have teased a “big and epic” final season, which Brown reassured fans will be worth the wait. “Be patient,” she urged at the L.A. premiere of her Netflix film The Electric State in February 2025.

Brown’s co-stars have also reflected on the series’ impact. Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, admitted the end has been emotional, calling it “a pretty jarring thing to realize how quickly it all flew by.”

Fans can stream Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 on Netflix, with the final season set for release in 2025.
