Driver charged after elderly pedestrian fatally hit by car in Cabramatta, Sydney

The elderly pedestrian was walking on a footpath when he was hit by the car.

A driver has been charged after a man was fatally struck by a car in Sydney’s southwest.

The 81-year-old pedestrian was walking along the footpath on Hughes St in Cabramatta about 4pm on Friday when he was hit by a MG ZS which had left the road.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene but he could not be saved.

The driver, a 51-year-old man, was not injured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

After being released the man was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court in June.
