Beloved Australian Robert Irwin is reportedly being eyed for a major new television role that could see him stepping away from Ten.
Robert Irwin is reportedly being eyed for a major new TV gig as his on-screen career goes from strength to strength.
He’s one of Australia’s most beloved media personalities, and his job hosting Ten’s I’m A Celebrity has seen his popularity skyrocket even further.
However, an insider has revealed that rival network Seven reportedly has their eyes set on Irwin, and are hoping to steal him from under Ten’s feet.
Sources told Sky News that Seven sees Irwin as a talent with broad audience appeal and long-term potential.

“Robert appeals to multiple demographics and has become incredibly valuable commercially,” one television insider claimed.
“He’s someone networks believe could front several major formats over the next decade.
“This is no longer just about one hosting role.
“It’s become a much bigger conversation about which network wants to build around Robert long-term.”
The new reports come as doubts have been raised about the future of I’m A Celebrity following budget cuts and a much-maligned move to the show no longer being live.
Seven are believed to be attempting to court Irwin by potentially offering the star the chance to host this year’s TV Week Logie Awards.

It comes after speculation about his future in Australia as he juggles an increasingly global career flared up again last month after Irwin was named host of a new US reality series, The Next Pro, which goes behind the scenes of the hit show Dancing With The Stars.
Earlier this week, he shared details about the terrifying moment he was death-rolled by a 317kg croc.
“I named this crocodile Jimmy Fallon, like, years ago, and he’s now what we call a boss croc,” he revealed during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
“We research crocodiles in the wild to better conserve them, right? The way you do that — my dad came up with this — is you actually have to jump on them, right?” Robert said, referring to his late father, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.
“So I jumped on the back of Jimmy Fallon and, get this … he death-rolled me,” he continued. “I jumped onto him. I kid you not – 14 foot [4.2 metres] of crocodile, big croc, death rolls me.
“So I’m stuck underneath him with my arm hanging out. I’ve got like, probably, I don’t know, maybe 700 pounds [317kg] on top of me and I’m just like, ‘What do I do?’”
Luckily, the croc eventually “rolled back the other way” and Robert was able to set himself free.
