Top Boy is making a comeback with two of its stars returning to tell tales from a “new bold lens”.
Award-winning gang drama Top Boy was tragically cancelled by Channel 4 after two series but thankfully, Netflix brought the hit back to life and now it’s being resurrected once again.
With the working title of Jaq, all eyes are going to be on Dushane Hill’s (played by Ashley Walters) right-hand woman Jaq (Jasmine Jobson). The news comes as Jobson is set to reprise her role as Zosia in the hit Paramount Plus drama Mobland.
Further details on what the Top Boy six-part series is going to be about haven’t been released just yet but filming is set to begin on the spin-off next year.
Jaq’s story ended on a rather wholesome note as she chose to leave the drug game behind to raise her baby nephew after her sister died of an accidental drug overdose. However, will Jaq’s dangerous past catch up with her in the new Top Boy spin-off just as she’s made a fresh start?

But Jaq isn’t the only Top Boy series now in the works with Netflix also confirming that a prequel entitled Jonny Boy is coming.
The five-part series will star none other than Saltburn and Peaky Blinders actor Barry Keoghan as he reprises his role as a high-ranking member of an Irish mob.
As Top Boy fans might recall from Netflix’s third series – fifth overall including the original Channel 4 shows – Jonny was killed by Sully (Kane Robinson) at his uncle’s care home.
This prequel will explore Jonny McGee’s origin story “through a new bold lens”, long before his path crossed with Sully’s.

Jonny Boy is being brought to life by Keoghan and Des Byrne’s company Wolfcub Productions who have described it as their “passion project”.
Much like Jaq, filming for the Top Boy prequel is set to begin sometime in 2027. The Top Boy universe’s expansion wasn’t the only announcement made by Netflix today.
The streamer has also confirmed an adaptation of author Bella Mackie’s best-selling novel How to Kill Your Family starring Peaky Blinders star Anya Taylor-Joy.
Actresses Kate Winslet and Maxine Peake are also uniting for the upcoming drama The Unheard from Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne.
Top Boy is available to watch on Netflix.
