ITV This Morning star Deirdre Sanders was left in tears on the ITV show on Tuesday as she opened up about her husband’s death to a caller who was suffering from loneliness.
This Morning star Deirdre Sanders was visibly moved during an emotional phone-in on Tuesday as she opened up about her husband’s passing.
The ITV agony aunt joined hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on the iconic blue sofa to engage with viewers grappling with loneliness.
Among them was 62-year-old Allan, who has been finding it tough since his husband’s death in December 2022.

Deirdre empathised with Allan, drawing from her own experience of losing her husband, Rick, unexpectedly in December 2023.
As she delved into her personal journey, Deirdre became choked up and was later seen dabbing at her eyes as Cat and Ben transitioned to the next caller, reports Wales Online.
Her husband sadly died days later and before Christmas, with Deidre offered condolences by her colleagues and viewers watching at home as she confirmed this.

She told Andi Peters and Josie Gibson: “A special thing for me was, a lot of you know my husband died just before Christmas on December 16th.

“But this call came through about a week before he died so that was really special. I could share it with him and say what had happened.
“I was with Rick for 55 years, so that was really great. He was always a great tease so he had to get in a few digs first. But he did the next day tell my daughter and tell me just how proud he was, so that made it extra, extra special.”
She continued: “It was lovely that we could share that, I think had he died before I got that news, it would have always just been a bittersweet thing so it’s lovely that we could share that.”
Andi and Josie offered their condolences, with Andi telling her: “We are so sorry for your loss, we really are,” while Josie added: “I’m so glad you got to tell him.”
Deidre has previously shared that her husband suffered with Parkinson’s disease, while he was also diagnosed with COPD (lung disease).

Deirdre has also faced her own health battles as back in October 2024, Deirde confessed her breast cancer had returned.
She said: “Unfortunately, I’ve got to have a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy. I feel lucky, it’s been caught early and the treatment is happening very rapidly. This is all on the NHS so I think I am so lucky. It could be so much worse.
A few weeks later, she gave an update: “I’m so fine. I feel like a bit of a phony because I don’t feel like anything wrong with me. I had brilliant surgery and treatment on the NHS. I’m not even having to take any painkillers.
“I’ll find out the results on whether they’ve actually got it all out in a couple of weeks time. 1 in 4 lumpectomy’s do have to have more surgery but I’ve got everything crossed and I was told it was a tiny tiny cancer so I’m optimistic.”
