A three-year-old boy who died after a ferocious blaze ripped through his family’s home in Melbourne’s south-west has been remembered as a “ball of energy”.
Emergency services received multiple calls that a house was alight in Werribee, about 32 kilometres south-west of Melbourne, shortly after midnight.

Neighbours rushed to the scene as flames engulfed the home within minutes and were able to help three family members escape out of the backyard.
But three-year-old Jordan Dashwood couldn’t be saved.
Jordan’s grandmother Tracie said firefighters just “couldn’t get to him” as the blaze ripped through the single-storey home.
“They tried to get the baby but they couldn’t get to him… because it was too hot, the fire,” she told 9News.
“I just miss that little man already. He was a bubble of energy.”

Jordan’s father Jeremy, 39, suffered serious burns and injuries in the fire after jumping out of a window and limping to an ambulance.
Jordan’s older brother, 11, and his mother, 40, were also able to escape the blaze.
Friends told 9News he is currently in an induced coma.
The family’s two dogs perished in the blaze.

More than 10 fire trucks and 40 firefighters attended the scene and extinguished the fire after an hour, before conducting a search of the home.

“Crews extinguished the blaze, which had fully engulfed the home, before locating a child deceased inside,” police said in a statement.

Police are investigating the fire and an arson chemist will attend the scene, but at this stage it is not being treated as suspicious.
