A 14-year-old boy has died and two teenagers are fighting for their lives after a car slammed into a tree in Victoria’s north-west.
Police said the vehicle was travelling down Calder Highway when it left the road and struck a tree near Woosang-Yeungroon Road, in Woosang, just before 10am on Saturday.
A 14-year-old boy, from the Mildura area, was declared dead at the scene.
The teenager was known to police and had previously been bailed for other offences, the Herald Sun reports.
Friends paid tribute to the boy on social media, with one saying he was grieving the death of his ‘big cousin’.
‘Fly in heaven … just sad I seen (sic) it all last night,’ he wrote.
Another said: ‘Forever gonna miss u mah bruva (sic) can’t believe ya gone, only 14.’
Police said the 18-year-old driver, who was also reportedly known to police, and his 14-year-old passenger – both from the Mildura area – had to be cut from the vehicle.
