THE TRIAL COLLAPSED — BUT LINDSAY CLANCY’S FIGHT IS FAR FROM OVER: HER LAWYER FINALLY REVEALS WHAT COULD HAPPEN NEXT, AND THE NEXT MOVE COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING
Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer said he hopes the killer mom can “work something out” with prosecutors after a mistrial was declared in her triple murder case Friday.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington did not rule out the possibility of working out a plea deal with Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz when grilled on what could come next for Clancy during an interview on “Good Morning America” Tuesday.
“They have a decision to make now. They could seek a retrial, they could seek a plea agreement. What are you expecting, what are you willing to do?” George Stephanopoulos asked Reddington.

“I‘m willing to listen to Tim. I‘ve known Tim for 30 years. He‘s a very hard-charging prosecutor,” Reddington responded.
“I hope, however, after sitting through this trial and seeing the evidence that was presented from the government as well as from the defense, that he would revisit that issue and hopefully would be able to work something out that would be acceptable to both sides.”
Pressed about the possibility of a plea deal during a second interview Tuesday, Reddington told CBS Boston that he “would not plead Lindsay Clancy to a day in jail,” insisting that she “doesn’t deserve jail.”
“I could certainly understand the mental health component, I have no issue with that whatsoever,” he explained. “I had a case last year where it was reduced down to second, and we tried it jury waived and the individual was acquitted and was then placed in mental health facilities and that’s what should happen here.
“So I’m hoping that Tim will revisit the facts of the case,” the defense lawyer said.

Reddington, 75, previously said the DA wasn’t willing to offer up a deal for the 36-year-old Duxbury, Massachusetts mother.
During deliberations Reddington told reporters, “right now there are three counts of first-degree murder. I cannot waive the jury, there is no plea bargaining there is nothing. Cruz wants his triple homicide convictions, consecutive life sentences with Lindsay and the judge can’t do anything about it and I can’t do anything about it.”
On Friday, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in the grueling six-week trial after the jury announced they were hopelessly deadlocked.

Cruz told reporters outside court that same day that his office hadn’t decided yet how they would proceed with the case.
His choices are retrying the case on the same charges, reducing the charges, trying to hash out an agreement with Clancy or dismissing the case altogether.
That decision will likely come out either at Clancy’s next hearing on Sept. 29 or sometime before.
The 12-person jury, made up of nine women and three men, was tasked with determining whether Clancy was guilty of murdering her three kids when she used exercise bands to strangle them on Jan. 24, 2023.

After the stranglings of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, Clancy tried to kill herself when she slit her wrists and neck, downed some of her prescription medications and threw herself out of her bedroom window on the second-floor of their home.
She paralyzed herself in the fall and is now wheelchair bound.
At trial, Reddington asked the jury to find her not criminally responsible based on the claim she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis and heard a voice commanding her to carry out the horrible acts.

But prosecutors alleged she was lucid enough to have carefully planned the slayings and sent her then-husband, Patrick Clancy, out on errands so he couldn’t stop her.
Reddington claimed she received negligent mental health care in the four months leading up to the killings, with her psychiatrists and other providers allegedly failing to properly diagnose her and overmedicating her.
Jurors learned that Clancy was regularly seeing a shrink, had sought help from two perinatal clinics, had called a suicide hotline twice and had even checked herself into a mental institution for five days.
During those months, Clancy was battling debilitating insomnia, anxiety, depression and thougths of suicide and even harming her kids, according to trial testimony.
She was prescribed 13 powerful psychiatric medications during that time period, which Clancy was convinced was making her mental condition worse, jurors learned.
