THE SUITCASE WASN’T JUST ABAND0NED — IT MAY HOLD THE FIRST CLUE TO WHO THE WOMAN WAS, AS POLICE PROBE HOW LONG HER REMAINS HAD BEEN LEFT NEAR GOULBURN
A dead body, believed to be a female, has been discovered in a suitcase near a rural road in NSW.
Police were called to Wolgon Road at Oallen, about 61km southeast of Goulburn, shortly before 1pm on Sunday.
Officers from the Hume police district attended the scene and remained into Sunday night.
It’s understood the remains were found by a member of the public who alerted authorities.
The suitcase was seized for forensic examination and a crime scene has been established at the location.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances around the death.
The body has not been formally identified.
Police are also yet to release details on how long they suspect the remains had been left in the remote area.

Police in hi-vis gear remained by the road late into Sunday night.
Officers were forced to hold umbrellas over equipment while fighting rain to photograph the scene.
Oallen is located in the Southern Tablelands, about 109km northeast of Canberra and 254km southwest of Sydney.
Wolgon Road is a dirt road that veers off the main Oallen Ford Road, about 15km northwest of Oallen.
