Delta Goodrem has spoken out after her narrow defeat at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, in which she finished in fourth place.
The Aussie superstar, 41, was an early fan favourite and took home 287 points after stunning the competition with a jaw-dropping rendition of her power ballad Eclipse.
The beloved singer spoke to the media shortly after the results were made public, and said she was absolutely thrilled with how she did.
‘I am so blown away at the love and support. I can’t even begin to say thank you. I felt the country with me, all I wanted to do was do my very best and feel that it was a great day,’ Delta began.
‘That’s all I could do at the end of the day. Tell you what, it’s a bit of a heart-starter out there!’
She added she was confused by the voting system and had to ask around to find out how she scored – but nevertheless was thrilled at how much she accomplished.

‘I had to go, “I’m sorry, what’s happening with this bit?” We did everything and went for it, I got to fly out of a piano! I got to use the smoke and the fire… I’m in the top four… I’m thrilled!’ she said.
‘I just want to say thank you, I am so overwhelmed with the love. This was truly once in a lifetime and very magical.’
It comes after Delta finished in fourth place at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, with Bulgarian singer Dara claiming the crown with her song Bangaranga.
Goodrem had brought the arena to its feet during her performance in Vienna early Sunday morning Australian time, complete with blinding stage lights, swirling smoke and a full-force wind machine moment.
She was at one point the second favourite to win the 70th edition of the iconic song contest after her bid to become the first Australian artist to claim the Eurovision crown.
The emotional performance capped off a remarkable week for the singer, whose semi-final appearance had already propelled her into uncharted territory for an Australian act in the competition.

Even Prime Minister Anthony Albanese threw his support behind the Innocent Eyes hitmaker ahead of the final.
‘Good luck at the Eurovision Grand Final, Delta,’ he posted to X. ‘You’ve already made Australia proud. We’ll all be cheering you on.’
Many Eurovision viewers had already declared that Eclipse was Australia’s strongest entry since Dami Im stunned audiences with The Sound of Silence in 2016, ultimately finishing in second place.
Speaking before flying to Vienna for the competition, Goodrem said she had been overwhelmed by the support from fans back home.
‘I love it, I love the passion, the positivity,’ she told nine.com.au.
‘I’m gonna take all this incredible good energy and vibes with me and fly over to Vienna with it all.’
