Rumors are running wild during NBA free agency ahead of the 2025–26 season, and just as uncertainty looms over the future of LeBron James, a photo surfaced of the Lakers star with Nikola Jokic’s agent.
Uh-oh! Coincidence or something more? While LeBron opted into his $52.6 million player option to stay one more season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jokic informed the Denver Nuggets on July 8 that he was turning down their offer to extend for three more years and $212 million.
Everything pointed to growing speculation about a possible move by Nikola Jokic to the Lakers, especially with the plan reportedly in place by the California team, according to journalist Mark Deeks. But… no one expected a surprise appearance by LeBron James that could change the entire ending of this story.
What happened during the meeting between Jokic’s agent and LeBron James?

Misko Raznatovic, Nikola Jokic’s agent, met with LeBron James and Maverick Carter, LeBron’s business partner, in Saint-Tropez, France. He posted two photos from the meeting on Instagram and added a powerful caption: “The summer of 2025 is the perfect time to make big plans for the fall of 2026!” What was he referring to? The Three Theories Behind LeBron’s Meeting with Jokic’s Agent
With the idea that the Los Angeles Lakers may be saving cap space to pursue a superstar in 2027 free agency—right when Nikola Jokic could become a free agent—the first theory about the meeting between LeBron James and Raznatovic is that “The King” may be trying to recruit Jokic to the California team. However, since James has just one year left on his contract, there’s also speculation that it could be the other way around: Jokic’s agent may be trying to recruit LeBron to the Denver Nuggets.
And the third theory? “Maverick Carter, LeBron’s longtime business partner, has been leading an ambitious $5 billion plan to launch an international basketball league—and Raznatovic, who represents nearly half of EuroLeague players, would be an ideal partner,” reported the site Fadeaway World.
