Stephen Curry breaks silence on his inju:ry and drops a surprising message: ‘I hope to return sooner than expected’

The Golden State Warriors’ race against time to stay alive in the 2025 NBA Playoffs without Stephen Curry is nearing its end. Amid the uncertainty surrounding the star point guard’s return from injury, a surprising update has emerged.

Just when everything seemed to be going smoothly for the Golden State Warriors—with Curry scoring 13 points in just 12 minutes—the Dubs’ star was forced to leave Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to injury.

The Warriors’ medical report indicated that Stephen Curry suffered a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring and will be re-evaluated on the same day as Game 5 (Wednesday, May 14) to determine when he can return to action.

The uncertainty surrounding whether Curry will see any more minutes in the 2025 NBA Playoffs semifinal series against the Minnesota Timberwolves has started to lift, thanks to a surprising update on The Chef’s injury.

“Approximately 90 minutes before tipoff on Saturday night (May 10), Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry went through a fairly intense workout on the team’s practice court at Chase Center. It was the clearest initial step in what Curry hopes will be a quicker-than-expected return from the hamstring strain that has come to define this second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves,” reported Anthony Slater of The Athletic, surprising everyone with the update.

What Stephen Curry Needs to Return in the 2025 NBA Playoffs

With Game 6 (Sunday, May 18) or Game 7 (Tuesday, May 20) as his target for a possible return—should they take place—Curry still needs to clear one major hurdle to receive medical clearance and rejoin the Warriors in their Playoff series against the Timberwolves. According to Slater, that final step involves testing his left hamstring with explosive cuts and full-speed sprinting. For now, he’s already doing mid-speed shooting drills and working out on a stationary bike.
