“POLICE BREAK THEIR SILENCE” — IS THIS A CRI:ME HIDDEN FOR 11 YEARS? NEW DETAILS EMERGE AFTER HUMAN R-E-M-A-I-N-S FOUND IN BACKYARD

Police suspect they have found the remains of a toddler buried in the backyard of a home in Melbourne’s outer northwest.

The 18-month-old boy had vanished in 2014, but was never reported missing.

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives started looking into the matter earlier this year.

After spending months of investigating with the assistance of the Missing Persons Squad, the Australian Federal Police, Major Crime Scene Unit, and the Victorian Insititute of Forensic Medicine, the officers arrived at a property in Brookfield on Monday.

They searched and dug up the backyard where they found the remains, believed to be of a human, buried in a shallow grave of reportedly 50 centimetres deep on Wednesday.

The body is yet to be identified.

Police said the current residents of the home had no knowledge or connection to the investigation or the people who did live there at the time.

According to 7News, the boy had lived at the home with his parents and two siblings.

The family then moved back overseas.
