Jamie Bell was spotted on the Birmingham set of Peaky Blinders for the first time on Saturday, just days after his role as the show’s new lead was revealed.
The actor, 40, was confirmed to be playing Tommy Shelby’s son Duke in a story set ten years after the events of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
As well as taking the mantle from Cillian Murphy, 49, he also sported a dramatic new period haircut just like his predecessor.
Dressed perfectly for the 1950s set series Jamie wore a sharp three piece suit with a long navy coat and striking fedora.
The actor was spotted filming the outdoor scenes which saw his character arriving in a jaguar at a building marked ‘Shelby Construction’.
The set had been decorated for the time period with fellow actors also in their costumes with many dressed as policemen, suggesting there was much ahead for Jamie’s character.

The casting for the show, which will air on BBC in the UK and Netflix internationally, was announced on Thursday night.
Jamie will be joined by Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton, Downton Abbey‘s Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal, No Time to Die), and West End star Lucy Karczewski.
The actor shot to fame when he was just 14 years old with his BAFTA-winning role in Stephen Daldry’s comedy drama Billy Elliot.
Since Billy Elliot’s release in 2000, Jamie went on to land roles in King Kong, Jumper, The Adventures of Tintin, Rocketman and All Of Us Strangers.
Last year it was confirmed the hit series would return with a bang to the BBC and Netflix, telling the story of a new generation of Shelbys, from writer and creator Steven Knight.
Series six of Peaky Blinders ended in the 1930s, and the film is set during the Second World War, so an upcoming series would jump forward several years.
The new episodes pick up in the fifties, a time of violent Teddy Boy gangs and the rise of the infamous Kray twins in London.

Of the casting announcement, Steven said: ‘I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s.
‘We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have Charlie Heaton also leading the cast. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.’
The synopsis reads: ‘In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.
‘This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell): older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous.’
Jamie will take on the role of Duke after Barry Keoghan played Tommy’s son in The Immortal Man.

Two new series have been with Lashana, 38, also seen filming on set in Birmingham this week.
Peaky Blinders originally ran from 2013 to 2022, following the Shelby family from 1919 through the 1920s and 1930s.
Peaky Blinders creator and writer Steven celebrated the show’s return, saying: ‘I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.
‘Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.
‘The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.’
A TV insider told The Sun: ‘The sixth series was meant to be the last and the film was supposed to end the story.
‘But show boss Steven Knight couldn’t resist coming back. He has been hinting for a while that he wanted to do more.’
