Are you looking for a new heist thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat? Minnie Driver‘s ‘propulsive’ series, The Day, is in the works at Paramount+, and it sounds like the perfect addition to your binge-watch list.

Written by Ben Harris and Jesse O’Mahoney, The Day is based on the 2018 Belgian series De Dag and follows the tense drama that unfolds during a bank robbery over a 24-hour period.

With a cast packed with fan favourites, the series is set to keep viewers hooked, with Minnie leading the story as the operation’s hostage negotiator. Intrigued? Keep reading to find out more about the upcoming Paramount+ drama.

What is The Day about?

Dubbed a “propulsive, edge-of-your-seat thriller”, the eight-parter explores the events that unfold across a “gripping” 24 hours.

The synopsis reads: “When police stumble across a bank robbery mid-heist, the criminals barricade themselves inside, and a terrifying siege begins.

“The series opens from the police perspective, led by hostage negotiator Sylvia ‘Vox’ Voxley (Minnie Driver), as she battles time and rising pressure to save the hostages.

“But as the crisis hurtles towards breaking point, the story rewinds – pulling viewers inside the bank to relive the same events through the eyes of the robbers and their hostages.

“With each episode flipping perspective between the police operation and the robbers barricaded inside, The Day constantly resets the narrative. Every shift in perspective reframes the truth and deepens the mystery – building to an explosive finale where the full picture finally snaps into place.”

Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting, Emily in Paris) stars as Vox, while Luca Pasqualino (Rivals, The Musketeers) and Louisa Harland (Renegade Nell, Derry Girls) also feature.
