The Paris 2024 Olympic Games once again made it clear that the NBA is the best basketball league in the world. Although the United States national team—made up entirely of NBA players—struggled at times against Serbia and France, they managed to rise to the occasion and were deserving winners of the gold medal.
Thus, players like Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant added the Paris 2024 gold medal to their résumés as they prepare for the start of the new season. In particular, ‘King James’ is set to make history by playing alongside his son, Bronny James, on the Los Angeles Lakers.
At 39 years old, LeBron is chasing his fifth championship ring after a disappointing collective season. However, some believe he doesn’t need more titles to be considered the greatest player of all time, while others argue that only six rings would allow him to surpass Michael Jordan. But now, LeBron himself has made his pick for the NBA’s GOAT.

LeBron James Chooses the Greatest NBA Player of All Time
In February 2023, LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the all-time leading scorer in NBA history. Following this milestone, the LA Lakers star was asked whether he now considered himself the greatest of all time, and he didn’t hesitate in his response:
“I’ve always felt like I’m the best to ever play basketball. That’s the confidence I have; it’s what I believe I’m worth. But whether this record puts me at the ultimate level, I don’t know.”
He later added: “I’ll let everyone decide for themselves. But I put myself ahead of everyone who has ever played basketball. When people talk about the greatest scorers in history, my name has to be mentioned.”
