A ‘beautiful and devoted’ mother of seven has died after a horrific three-vehicle collision on a busy Gold Coast hinterland road on Mothers Day.
Rebecca Hayes, 41, died at the scene of the horror crash on Sunday after the car she was travelling in with her young daughter collided with two others.
Emergency services were called to Maudsland Road, Maudsland, around 12pm on Sunday amid reports of a three-vehicle collision involving a Mitsubishi ASX station wagon, a Mazda 3 hatchback and a Mazda BT-50 dual-cab utility.
It’s understood Ms Hayes was driving with her 11-year-old daughter in the Mitsubishi ASX station wagon.
In a statement to media on Monday morning, Queensland Police confirmed the girl was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) in a critical condition but is now stable.
The drivers of the two Mazdas – a man in his 30s and a woman in her 60s – were also transported to hospital.
The man was taken to GCUH with potentially life-threatening abdominal injuries and remains in a critical condition.
The woman, who experienced neck pain, has since been released from hospital.

A GoFundMe has now been set up by Kieara Anderson who described Ms Hayes as ‘one of the most devoted mums you could ever meet.’
‘There are simply no words that could ever explain the heartbreak these children are now facing. To lose your mum is unimaginable… but to lose her on a day meant to celebrate her love makes this tragedy even more painful,’ Ms Anderson shared on the GoFundMe page.
‘Bec was the definition of selfless. A fiercely loving single mother who dedicated every part of herself to her children.
‘Her babies were her entire world, and anyone who knew Bec knew how hard she fought every single day to provide a safe, loving and happy home for them. She gave absolutely everything she had to her family.’
Ms Anderson said the funds would help the family give Ms Hayes the ‘beautiful farewell she deserves’, support funeral expenses and give her children some stability in the weeks and months ahead.
‘We want her babies to have the space to mourn, heal and be surrounded by love without the added fear and stress of financial hardship during this unimaginable time,’ Ms Anderson said.
‘Rest peacefully beautiful Bec. Your love, strength and devotion to your babies will never be forgotten.’
Maudsland Road was closed in both directions throughout much of the afternoon, reopening to traffic just after 5pm.

A local resident told the Gold Coast Bulletin she heard a ‘huge crash’ and ran straight outside towards the car, where she saw a young girl and woman both crushed and unconscious.
The woman said the girl woke after about 10 minutes and began trying to extricate herself from the vehicle.
She teared up when asked how she was doing.
‘I’m not doing well, I’ve got daughters,’ she said, trailing off. ‘Happy Mother’s Day.’
Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are underway by the Forensic Crash Unit, which is appealing to anyone with relevant information or dashcam/CCTV footage to come forward.
