Tears fell during Sunday night’s episode of Married At First Sight, after groom Chris Robinson revealed he was fed up with his husband Sam Stanton’s behaviour.
The pair were appearing at a Commitment Ceremony when Chris, 38, made the surprising admission that he had been feuding with his partner Sam, 34.
‘The experts asked me a question last week, “Are you starting to envision a life outside of the experiment?” I thought it was admirable that I was thinking about it. But Sam was upset that I didn’t consult him before answering the question,’ Chris admitted.
‘He said to me, prior to the dinner party, “your apologies weren’t genuine enough. I’m going to bring it up with the group.” He could have facilitated that in the apartment, in private. I feel like I have been dragged through the coals.’
However, Sam was having none of it and said the reason he publicly aired his grievances was so that they could receive ‘feedback’ from their co-stars.
‘I wanted feedback from the group, I can talk to my friends, you can talk to yours, to see if we can move past this,’ a defiant Sam said.

Sam added that for their relationship to work, he felt that he would be having to make more personal sacrifices than Chris, which led to an uneven dynamic.
‘I’m prepared to do that if we fall for each other. But I just didn’t want to feel I had no say in that, I would like a bit more empathy about how much I would have to change,’ Sam said.
In a shock moment, the pair were then asked to reveal if they wanted to Stay or Leave the experiment – and they decided differently.
‘I have been going back and forth. I have decided I want and need to put my dad hat on, so I want to leave,’ Chris told the experts.
‘He’s an amazing guy, and he will be amazing for someone, but I don’t think it is me.’
A blindsided Sam was then seen bursting into tears, admitting he didn’t see Chris’ decision coming.
‘It hurts… You have just given up because it got tough for a few days. I just can’t believe it,’ Sam tearfully said.
However, Sam said he would have ‘regrets’ if he were to give up on their relationship at this point, and so he voted to Stay.

‘I want to leave here with absolutely no regrets either way. Right now, I feel I would have regrets about not knowing if we could work,’ Sam said, as he revealed his decision.
Series expert John Aiken told the pair that they would be staying for another week, and that their relationship required some ‘heavy lifting’ to repair the rift between them.
‘With awareness can come change. All you have to do is treat each other in a friendly way,’ John told the pair, as they agreed to give their relationship some more work.
Last month, the grooms broke their silence following their wedding episode.
Speaking to Daily Mail, the couple opened up about the baby bombshell, explosive dinner party drama and even the X-rated casting question producers asked before they were matched.
The intruder couple instantly stood out as sparks flew at the altar, but behind the smiles was a major secret Chris had yet to reveal.
The 38-year-old gym owner and farmer is expecting one child via surrogate and another as a donor father to a lesbian friend, but chose not to tell Sam on their wedding night.
‘Obviously, it is pretty big news,’ Chris explained. ‘But we had just met. He was a stranger. In the real world, when do you tell someone? First, second, third date?’
He admitted he deliberately ‘hit pause’ after Sam revealed children were not on his radar in the immediate future.
Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
